特集前言　知的コモンズとしての建築会館

本号は2012年度の本会の年報である。
　年報記事に先立ち、小特集「建築会館手冊」を企画した。建築会館は、全国約3万5千人の会員が集まる広場であり、知的生産の場であると同時に、知の収蔵庫でもある。しかし、どれほどの会員がこの建築会館の強力なファシリティとアーカイブの全容を知っているだろうか。会員のコモンズとしての建築会館の手冊（ハンドブック）があってもよいのではないか。これを本号の第1部とした。会館の建設経緯と主なファシリティ、情報化の趨勢のなかで変貌しつつある図書館、開館10周年を迎えた建築博物館（藤岡洋保氏へのインタビュー）の紹介、そしてイラストと取材による「界隈マップ」で構成している。
　第2部は、近年の本誌年報の通例にしたがって、各常置委員会、支援特別会議・特別委員会、各支部からの報告によって構成した。2012年度の本会各組織の知的生産の記録である。つづく第3部は、2012年度の建築年表である。
　なお、表紙デザインに用いた「建築雑誌」の文字は、125年前、1887（明治20）年に発行された創刊号表紙に由来する（前編集委員会より引き継いだ金型を使用）。

Preface to the Special Issue: The AIJ Building as an Intellectual Commons

This issue is the Annual Report of Architecture 2012.
　In advance of the annual reports, we planned a small feature, "AIJ Building Handbook." The AIJ Building is an open space where 35,000 members gather from all parts of the country, a place for intellectual production and at the same time a storehouse of intellect. But how many members know the whole of the AIJ Building's strong facilities and archives? It' s fitting that there's a handbook of the AIJ Building as a commons for the members, isn' t it? And it is this issue's part 1. It is composed of the building's construction details, the main facilities, the library undergoing change in an information-oriented trend, the architecture museum that has reached the 10th anniversary of its opening (interview with Hiroyasu Fujioka), and the "Neighborhood Map" made of illustrations and reports.
　Part 2 is composed by AIJ research committees, councils for support, special committees, and chapters in the same way as this journal's recent annual reports. It is a record of the intellectual production of all AIJ organizations in 2012. And following that, part 3 is the Chronology of Architecture 2012.
　In addition, our cover logo, 建築雑誌 (Kenchikuzasshi in Japanese), originated in the first issue in 1887, 125 years ago. The plate taken over from the previous editorial board is used.
